Job Corps Center

Flatwoods Job Corps Center, located in Coeburn, Virginia, offers a GED program and a U.S. Forest Service Firefighting program, in addition to the following vocational training programs:

Business Technologies Painter
Carpentry Plasterer
Cement Masonry Plumber
Electrician Welding

Flatwoods Job Corps Center has training facilities, administrative buildings, a gymnasium, outdoor basketball courts and other recreational areas. There are many fun activities to take part in on center, such as billiards, arts and crafts, camping, fishing and weightlifting, as well as several sports, including basketball, softball, track, volleyball, flag football, cheerleading, bowling and aerobics.

Students can also take advantage of leadership opportunities through the Student Government Association, Explorers Club, the Peer Leadership Program, the Mentoring Program and community service projects.

Flatwoods Job Corps Center partners with several employers to give students real-world experience. Employer partners include ARC Electric, the Association of Building Contractors; Bernard C. Harris Publishing Company; the Cedar Bluff, Va., Employment Commission; Globe Iron Construction Company; Mountain Empire Community College; Norton VEC; Real Entrepreneurship Institutes; S.B. Ballard Concrete Construction, Inc.; the U.S. Forest Service; Virginia Apprentices; Warner Construction Consultants and Wise Skill Center.
