CDSS - Career Development

The Career Development Period (CDP) represents the majority of time a student is in Job Corps. During this time, students prepare for their high school diploma or GED and train for their chosen trade.

During the vocational training, students have the opportunity to participate in a work-based learning program, which is where students work and learn at an actual work site. This gives students a chance to work under the direction of Job Corps' employer partners.

Near the end of this period, students are linked with Career Transition Specialists (CTS) to begin their job search process. With the help of their CTS and the National 2-1-1 Directory, students learn how to access support services to ensure a smooth transition from the center to the community.
